Hacoa Wooden USB Hub House. I’m getting rid of all the yellow accents in my office, most can be painted over but one thing I need to replace is a my usb hub. This little wooden house hub is so cute but ugh so expensive. Really, how hard would it be to make my own? (Don’t answer that.)
Catfe! Vancouver is getting a cat cafe and it’s gonna be close enough for me to walk to.
My neighbour’s home-invading cat Lola welcomes you to this links post.
Hello Kitty, goodbye men! A 29-year-old woman who prioritizes her Hello Kitty collection over dating. “Not that Natasha really cares. She added, ‘If a man doesn’t like my kitty kingdom then I’m not interested.'”
Little Unicorn Summer Poppy swaddle blanket. I KNOW I KNOW this exact blanket is all over every popular blog & instagram account, and at 2 1/2 Gwen is a lil old for swaddling. Whenever we go out in her stroller these days she INSISTS on having a blanket on her lap, which I don’t mind as it shades her from the sun. However, since she was born in the winter, all her swaddles are flannel and it has been way too hot for that lately. This bright poppy printed muslin swaddle is lightweight, as well as cute and reasonably priced. I didn’t love their $20 shipping to Canada, but luckily I have a friend in Ohio who was willing to ship it to me.
Date While You Wait This is pretty cute. I am very often cynical and dismissive about things like this but I’m trying not to be such a bitter betty.
Night Sky handpainted wooden blocks. Tacky to include something of my own but idc, I’m so happy with how these turned out! Next I’m making a set of blocks with each side painted a different metallic colour, which I think will look pretty cool. These are really fun to do, and I’m considering listing them for sale in the shop (yes I know I very recently said there was no point to me trying to sell things other than banner because they all flop but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ).
This article on the pop-punk accent is FASCINATING to me, especially the part about the Canadian Shift as compared to the California shift. Usually when I meet friends from the US for the first time they expect me to have a Canadian accent but then they tell me I sound like I’m from Southern California. Apparently the only thing I say Canadian-ly is “sorry,” but sore-y I’m not sore-y about it.
my little poppet welcomes you to this links post 🙂
I’m trying out this wild rose petal sangria this weekend. The group daycare two doors down has wild rose hedges on either side of their front path so the other evening I went and picked all the petals that were just about to fall off.
Working from home by myself kind of means I tend to lose track of time and date. Like, did I remember it was Father’s Day this weekend? Yes I did. But is that okay because in my typical fashion, I ordered gifts for Taylor MONTHS ago. I did want to pick him up one more thing, and this little gift guide of last minute ideas both reminded and inspired me.
All the pins on my jean jacket are ghost & gravestone themed but this unicorn brooch has me feeling maybe I need to branch out, or maybe I should stick with the theme and preorder this enamel ghost pin from The Disaster Life? OR MAYBE BOTH????
I didn’t used to like this half-up topknot style but I tried it out on both Gwen and myself when we went to the beach the other weekend and I think we both looked pretty cute.
I don’t often post about serious events like this because sometimes I don’t feel it’s my place to comment (especially if it’s an issue of race, like do we really need anther white opinion?) and I often struggle to express myself eloquently, but as a non-religious person my friend Karra’s post about the Charleston shooting simply expresses a lot of the things I’m feeling.
iced cinnamon rooibos tea
When I was sick the other week I asked Taylor to make me some tea, and then promptly fell asleep. After I woke up it was just barely lukewarm but I still drank it and realized it would be good iced. We have a special iced tea jug with a built in steeper (similar to this), we put in 8 spoonfuls of the loose tea, 1 1/4 liters of hot water and steep it for 8 minutes. It’s naturally sweet so we don’t need to add any sugar. After we remove the steeper with fill the jug the rest of the way with ice and let it chill.
jewelled short jumpsuit
This just appeals to me on SO MANY LEVELS, all of them terrible. Like, a bejewelled and embroidered satin shorts jumpsuit? WOW. I actually already ordered it so next week we’ll see how awful/amazing it really is (I may be returning it).
Farmer Josh & the Gabba Gang
Gwen has been watching a lot of Yo Gabba Gabba recently, and I think this is one of my favourite bits. I prob would have liked Lost if the island was more like Gabba Land tbh.
Thank goodness it’s June! May was just the worst. Not to be outdone but the rest of the month, the last weekend was the biggest trash weekend ever. Remember how last week on Tuesday I was sick with the flu? So it would be reasonable to assume that I wouldn’t get sick again that week but nope. NOPE. On Friday night I developed a horrible cold-slash-sinus infection and was in agony all weekend long. WOW GREAT SUPER FUN. I got more sick more times in that one week than I did all winter long. I’m finally starting to feel better I SERIOUSLY BETTER NOT GET SICK AGAIN BECAUSE O M G
Some actual good things that happened on the weekend…
In case you don’t follow me on instagram (and if not why not like come on…) I got a cat! His name is Mark Fluffalo and he’s black and fluffy and hopefully soon he will stop hiding and be friends with us all.
On Friday I shipped the first bunch of Sara M Lyons + Unicorn Parade banners! I have a few more to make & ship this week and then I thiiiiiiiink we are going to restock the currently sold out “Whatever Forever” banners, so if you missed them the first time around be on the lookout!
ALSO Sara sent me a pair of her new enamel pins, Sad Ghost and Happy Ghost. They are also currently sold out available for pre-order but you can get your hands on her Witch Hat and 2 Sides of the Same Board pins right now.
On Saturday night Taylor and I watched “What We Do In the Shadows” and I literally cannot recommend this movie enough. WATCH IT. RIGHT NOW. Also, Halt and Catch Fire is back! Does anyone else watch it? It’s so good.
I put up my June calendar page, I’ve been so busy I didn’t think I’d get it done but being sick all weekend gave me a lot of inside time.
Today is the last day of school! Or rather, it is the last day I will be doing the school drop off/pick as the little girl I’ve been looking after got into the group out-of-school care she’s been on the waiting list for since September. In June, the last month of school. Crazy! I will miss her (she’s a great kid, who I’ve looked after on & off since she was just one year old) but I won’t miss having to drag Gwen and her lil friend and my giant stroller down the hill and back twice a day. Anyway, no more school runs makes me feel like summer has arrived early so HOORAY!
Disappointed in myself for missing this perfect black tunic with lace insets before it sold out in my size, I guess I’ll just have to stalk the site every day and hope someone returns one.
Gwen has a lot of jumpsuits, but none with a watermelon print sooooooo she could prob use this one.
Even though it was a short week, it’s been a suuuuuuuuuper long one. I only worked three days (Monday was a holiday & I took Wednesday off) but I’ve been really busy with orders and in spite of my excellent lullaby-singing, Gwen has had some MAJOR sleeping issues week that have been very draining- on Tuesday night it took me SEVEN HOURS to get her to sleep. Thankfully things are looking up. Gwen has slept well with minimal fussing the past two nights, it’s almost the weekend, I FINALLY finished the huge 20-banner order I’ve been working on AND I just got approved to adopt a cat!
I’m back with another dress! I actually already bought this one on a weird whim a few weeks ago so I can tell you it is the best summer dress everrrrrrrr. I bought the black but I’m thinking of getting the white as well.
Is it tacky to post my own link in one of these posts? Probably but I DON’T EVEN CARE because I am in love with these banners Sara and I designed together! They are based off three of her original illustrations (I actually just posted about one a couple weeks ago) and they are available today in limited quantities in both our shops, here and here.
